Conference on Practical Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture Focuses on Vojvodina and Regional Cooperation
The conference “Practical Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture” brought together experts, policymakers, and practitioners working on climate resilience in the agricultural sector, with a particular focus on Vojvodina and the wider Western Balkans region.
The event addressed urgent challenges related to climate change impacts on agriculture, including drought risks, water management, soil degradation, and the transition toward more sustainable farming practices. Discussions emphasized the need for practical, evidence-based solutions and their direct implementation at the local level.
Participants explored synergies with major regional initiatives and projects, including #ADRURAL, #DanubeADAPT, and #InnoWaTch, aiming to strengthen cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange in climate adaptation.
Recent developments in 2026 further underline the importance of the topic. In Serbia, a national workshop held in March 2026 focused on guidelines for adapting agricultural production to changing climate conditions, bringing together government representatives, experts, and stakeholders.
At the regional level, working groups on Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture continue to identify risks and define adaptation measures, while upcoming international events such as the 24th International Congress of Biometeorology (ICB2026) in Novi Sad will further support scientific and professional exchange.
The conference confirmed a clear shift from strategic discussion toward practical implementation and field-level solutions to strengthen agricultural resilience in Vojvodina.
