VIII AEBR Youth Forum "Young Leaders for Promotion of Careers and Friendly Neighbourship”

ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to inform you that Association of European Border Regions, AEBR Task Force of External Borders and AEBR Centre for Balkans in cooperation with New Diplomacy Centre Belgrade and Institute for International and Cross-border Cooperation are organising VIII Youth Forum entitled "Young Leaders for Promotion of Careers and Friendly Neighbourship” supported by National Assembly of Republic of Serbia.

The VIII Youth Forum will be held in Belgrade from 2nd to 3rd December, 2016 and implemented through a Discussion Forum and Workshop with focus on following topics:

  • The Role of Young Leaders in Cross-border Cooperation,
  • Youth Power for Positive Transformation, and
  • Youth Cross-border Friendship for Peace

During the VIII AEBR Youth Forum the Youth Charter for Cross-border Cooperation will be created. The participants will work on Youth Charter from three points of view: What can Youth do for Youth?; What can Youth do for Society?; and What can Society do for Youth?. The main Working Groups topics will be as follow:

1.         Youth enrolment in policy development and strategic planning

  • Do the European policies meet youth needs?
  • In which level (local, regional, national, transnational) young people have the biggest influence in policy making?
  • What are the ways of youth participation in regional development?
  • In what areas of urban and rural development can youth participate?
  • How can government secure youth participation in spatial development?

2.         Economic development

  • Shaping the youngsters!
  • Youth employment - Global problem
  • Private and public sector cooperation - Youth internship and employment!
  • Is youth contributing in reducing or improving equal income distribution?

3.         Environment protection

  • How can youth get more interested in environmental protection?
  • Raising awareness among youngsters!
  • Green yourself!

4.         Social development

  • How can youth participate in building the better community for minorities? 
  • Are all youth groups equal?
  • How can youth integrate migrants in the community?
  • How can disabled youth groups integrate in society?
  • Is youth contributing in reducing or improving of gender equality?

5.         Media and social networks

  • Are we using media in the right way?
  • Possibilities of youth projects supported by social media!
  • Exchanging information through (social) media has a positive or negative effect?

6.         Peace and Reconciliation

  • Role of young leaders in conflict prevention
  • Education for peace and reconciliation
  • Borders as areas of peace

7.         Cross - border cooperation and youth projects

  • Project funding!
  • Are there enough projects from which youth can have benefits?
  • Which youth projects are currently developed and which ones young people need, but don’t have?

We warmly welcome the youth from all over the world to take active role in VIII Youth Forum.

 

Profile of the participants:

- Preferable age between 20 and 35

- The applicants should have ability to speak and understand English

- Students, young professionals or young NGO activists
